A new precise yet affordable 3D scanner is now up on Kickstarter. It has already exceeded its initial goal of $80,000 by more than six times, and it has 19 days to go.
It’s called Eora 3D, a small gadget to which you attach your smartphone. The 3D scanner uses the phones camera and green lasers to scan whatever object you want to make a model of. The scanned model can later be used with a 3D printer.
Eora can scan object from up to one meter, and can capture objects of one square meter. For large objects you’ll have to scan them multiple times.
The Eora doesn’t need a turntable, but they have created one anyway. That device is optional.
