Technovator will soon launch a Kickstarter-campaign for XE – a device that charges your phone from across the room. It doesn’t use any wires or charging plates, except for the one wire connecting the router to your wall outlet. Instead it transmits electric power wireless from the power router to a smartphone case. Think of it as Wifi but for electricity.

Through the app you can also set specific times when the XE is activated, and also for how long it should charge your phone.

This sounds scary but according to Technovator and Digital Trends, who got a sneak peek at the device before the launch on Kickstarter in November, the XE is safe.

Technovator will initially focus on cases for Iphones, but if the Kickstarter goes well they have plans on expanding to other smartphones.
